The 20th International Symposium on the Forensic Sciences invites the submission of abstracts on original work for consideration for the Symposium Program. Contributions will be reviewed and considered for either oral or poster presentations.

Summary of Abstract Submission Instructions
Please read through the submission instructions listed below before preparing your abstract:
Step 1: Read the General Policies and Requirements for the submission of abstracts.
Step 2: Write your abstract following the Abstract Format & Layout Guidelines.
Step 3: Download the Abstract template document and insert your abstract text. Save as a .doc document to your computer. Please note: Abstract must not exceed 250 word limit.
Step 4: Click on the button below to complete the Abstract Submission Form. It will be necessary to attach/upload the .doc copy of your abstract.
NOTE: Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking ‘upload’.
Abstracts will only be accepted for inclusion in the program if accompanied by a completed Abstract Submission Form and if the presenting author registers no later than 16 June 2010. The online Abstract Submission Form must be fully completed.
Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a submission error. If you do not receive a confirmation email with your access key, please contact the Symposium Managers via the email address: anzfss2010@arinex.com.au
The Symposium Managers will not be responsible for abstract submissions not received via the Symposium website or for submission errors caused by Internet Service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or natural disasters.
It will be the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the abstract is supplied in full. Abstracts on diskettes/CD-Rom will not be accepted.
General Policies and Requirements for the Submission of Abstracts
- All abstracts must be original work.
- ONLY ONLINE SUBMITTED ABSTRACTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours after submission, please contact the ANZFSS 2010 Symposium Managers: anzfss2010@arinex.com.au
- Presenting authors will be required to register for the Symposium by 16 June 2010 in order for their abstract to be accepted. Accepted abstracts will be included in the abstract CD ROM only if presenters have registered and their dues have been received.
- All abstracts will be reviewed by the Discipline Contact. Discipline Contacts will communicate with authors regarding minor changes.
- The Scientific Program Committee reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts for inclusion in the program and to change your submission preference from oral to poster and visa versa.
- Abstracts will be grouped by disciplines. Please indicate the discipline most suitable to your abstract. Please note this does not guarantee that your abstract will be grouped within this discipline in the final program.
- All abstracts must be prepared as per the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted correctly by the deadline to be considered for presentation.
- Authors will be notified of acceptance/rejection in late May 2010.
Evaluation Criteria
Abstracts will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Novel concept versus an extension of existing work;
- Originality of the methodology;
- Contribution to the discipline globally;
- Clarity and understandability;
- Work that could be submitted to a peer-reviewed international journal.
Abstract Format & Layout Guidelines
The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience. It is the responsibility of the presenting author to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation, as abstracts will be published exactly as submitted.
Your abstract should have the following format:
- Abstract must be written in English;
- Abstracts must be submitted using Microsoft Word template supplied on this website;
- Abstract title: max 15 words, not in all caps, should read as a normal sentence;
- Abstract text: max 250 words;
- Topic: please check the list of disciplines and their description before submitting your abstract;
- (Co-)authors: name & affiliation;
- Presentation preference: oral presentation or poster presentation;
- Abstract text font should be Times New Roman. Essential elements include:
- Margins (A4 page)
- Top: 2.54 cm Bottom: 2.54 cm
- Left: 3.17 cm Right: 3.17 cm
- Title (14 point, bold, aligned left)
- List of authors (12 point, aligned left)
- Institutional affiliation(s) (10 point, aligned left, italics)
- Main text (10 point, justified)
- Optional figures (black and white only) and/or tables, are permitted at the authors’ discretion. Figures and/or tables, along with the abstract, should together constitute no more than one A4 page.
